I usually try to travel as light as possible. With that in mind, I try to keep with me a selection of tools that can get me out of minor trouble such as flats and small crashes. I usually don’t prepare for every possible scenario. I feel, that if something goes really wrong technically or I crash big, a wide selection of spanners won’t be enough to rectify the situation.
The things I want to be able to do on the road, i.e. what my toolkit is planned for:
TASK
TOOLS NEEDED
taking of the front wheel and changing the inner tube/tire
14mm hex bit, 10mm socket or wrench, tire irons
taking off the rear wheel and changing the inner tube/tire
Awesome, thanks! I was going to do the same analysis, but you did it for me. 🙂 The only thing I would rather have instead of a flashlight is a LED head lamp.
Thanks for the info, just setting up our kit. The socket handle mentioned by Marcus looks really good but I can’t find anything similar anywhere. Where did you find yours?
Hello, great site. great infos. On the last picture on the bottom is this the ratchet wrench and extension with a tube? Cheers, Marcus

No. That is the socket handle for the large 24mm socket and 14mm hex bit

I bought my bike used. The tool kit is missing. My main question is what would you use to remove the spark plug?
