MY tool kit

Honda CRF 250 Rally chain adjustment tool sizes

I usually try to travel as light as possible. With that in mind, I try to keep with me a selection of tools that can get me out of minor trouble such as flats and small crashes. I usually don’t prepare for every possible scenario. I feel, that if something goes really wrong technically or I crash big, a wide selection of spanners won’t be enough to rectify the situation.

The things I want to be able to do on the road, i.e. what my toolkit is planned for:

taking of the front wheel and changing the inner tube/tire 14mm hex bit, 10mm socket or wrench, tire irons
taking off the rear wheel and changing the inner tube/tire 19mm wrench, 24mm socket, 10mm wrench & 12mm wrench, tire irons
adjusting chain tightness 19mm wrench, 24mm socket, 10mm wrench & 12mm wrench.
removing the seat 6mm hex bit
removing the battery 5mm hex bit, 8mm socket
removing the fairings 5mm hex bit
removing / reattaching the skid plate 10mm socket
tightening mirror stems 14mm wrench (or 2)
tightening / readjusting hand guards 5mm hex bit, 10mm wrench
removing clutch/brake lever 10mm & 12mm socket
removing / reattaching gear lever 10mm wrench
removing / remounting front brake reservoir 8mm socket
removing / remounting clutch mount 8mm socket
tightening / readjusting handlebar mounts 6mm hex bit
removing / remounting the front screen 5mm hex bit
tightening oil drain bolt 12mm socket
readjusting front forks 10mm socket
removing tool box 8mm socket

No. That is the socket handle for the large 24mm socket and 14mm hex bit

Awesome, thanks! I was going to do the same analysis, but you did it for me. 🙂 The only thing I would rather have instead of a flashlight is a LED head lamp.

Thanks for the info, just setting up our kit. The socket handle mentioned by Marcus looks really good but I can’t find anything similar anywhere. Where did you find yours?

I bought my bike used. The tool kit is missing. My main question is what would you use to remove the spark plug?
